Terese Mason Pierre reveals how anthologies come together around a theme, what editors look for in submissions, and how certain stories are chosen over others. A conversation for both readers and writers that will deliver understanding and appreciation of standout, breathtaking speculative stories.
As the Earth Dreams features stories by Trynne Delaney, francesca ekwuyasi, Whitney French, Aline-Mwezi Niyonsenga, Chimedum Ohaegbu, Suyi Davies Okungbowa, Chinelo Onwualu, Lue Palmer, and Zalika Reid-Benta.
A Different Drummer Books will be on site with books for sale and signing after the talk.
Terese Mason Pierre (she/her) is a writer and editor whose work has appeared in The Walrus and Quill & Quire, among others. She is a Writers’ Trust Journey Prize winner and was named a Writers’ Trust Rising Star. Myth is her debut poetry collection, and she is the editor of As The Earth Dreams, an anthology of Black Canadian speculative short fiction. Terese has completed residencies at Island Scribe and the Banff Centre.
