A panel talk with four mystery writers
A super-group of crime fiction authors returns to BPL for a guaranteed thrilling discussion. Melodie Campbell, Vicki Delany, Maureen Jennings, and Hannah Mary McKinnon share the stage to talk about the appeal of crime fiction, what it's like to be part of the crime-writing community, and what goes into imagining and researching murder and mayhem before putting it on paper to shock and delight readers.
Melodie Campbell, called the "Queen of Comedy" by the Toronto Sun, writes capers and golden age mysteries. Winner of ten awards, including the Crime Writers of Canada Award of Excellence for The Goddaughter’s Revenge, Melodie has 18 books and over 60 short stories, but she got her start writing stand-up. The Silent Film Star Murders has been recently released by Cormorant Books. Melodie lives in Burlington.

Vicki Delany is one of Canada’s most prolific crime writers and a national bestseller in the U.S. She is currently writing the Tea by the Sea mysteries, the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop series, the Year-Round Christmas mysteries, and the Lighthouse Library series (as Eva Gates). Vicki is the recipient of the 2019 Derrick Murdoch Award for contributions to Canadian crime writing. She lives in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

Maureen Jennings now a Canadian citizen, was born in the UK and emigrated to Canada as a teenager. She is an award-winning author and an Officer of the Order of Canada having published one novella, thirteen novels of crime fiction and one book of non-fiction relating to creativity, as well as four professionally produced plays The Murdoch Mysteries TV series is based on her popular character. She lives in Toronto, Canada.

Hannah Mary McKinnon was born in the UK, grew up in Switzerland and moved to Canada in 2010. Her suspense novels include The Neighbors, and bestsellers Her Secret Son, Sister Dear, You Will Remember Me, Never Coming Home, and The Revenge List. She also writes romantic comedies as Holly Cassidy. Hannah Mary lives in Oakville, Ontario.
