Author of the Governor General's Award Winner, Chrysalis
Meet one of Canada's rising literary stars. Critically acclaimed novelist Anuja Varghese successfully centres on women of colour in her stories. Varghese's genre-blending stories of transformation and belonging in her poignant and chilling debut collection, Chrysalis, won the 2023 Governor General's Literary Award and the 2023 Writers Trust Dayne Ogilvie Prize for LGBTQ2+ Emerging Writers, was shortlisted for the 2024 Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize, and longlisted for the 2024 Carol Shields Prize for Fiction.
Blurring the lines between the real world and worlds beyond, in Chrysalis, Varghese delves fearlessly into complex intersections of family, community, sexuality, and cultural expectation.
A Different Drummer Books will be on site with books for sale and signing after the talk.
