A conversation with Eddie Lartey, winner of national and international poetry slams, who has enthralled audiences worldwide with his unique voice and powerful performances. Lartey discusses his journey and creative process and the difference between spoken word and written poetry.
A true wordsmith, Lartey blends creative wordplay and storytelling to create a heartfelt experience for his audience. He details stories of love, struggle, and triumph within the Black experience. Most recently, his collection of poems, Barcode, was the winner of the 2024 Hamilton Literary Awards in the poetry category.
Eddie Lartey, winner at the 2024 Hamilton Literary Awards for his poetry collection Barcode, is the 2019 Toronto International Poet Slam Champion, the 2021 Human Rights Film Festival Poetry Slam Champion, and the 2022 Canadian Individual Poetry Champion, among other titles. But at the end of the day, he is just a man who likes to make people smile with his words.
