Join Artist Lisa Meecham of the Burlington Hooking Craft Guild, for a talk about traditional rug hooking, Black history in Canada, and her family’s place within it.
Lisa will discusses her original artwork, Joe Izzard Plays the Fiddle, handcrafted circa 1900, and the role of rug hooking in preserving family stories and microhistories. Time will be provided for Q&A throughout the session. There will also be a short rug hooking demonstration.
This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition "Larry Weyand: Peeling the Sticker Off an Overripe Pear" at the Art Gallery of Burlington, on view February 5 to May 16, 2021. This is a live event via the Zoom webinar. It will be recorded and available to view on our YouTube channel at a later date. The video will be available to view for one month after the event.
