A poetry month presentation
LIVE presentation via ZOOM / Watch this talk on BPL's YouTube channel for four months after April 8.
What does it take to conceive and create a poetry collection? With her latest collection, "Hail the Invisible Watchman," launching on April 5, Burlington-based poet Alexandra Oliver is a seasoned veteran. She joins us virtually to share her experience, insight, and wisdom with aspiring poets and readers intrigued by the creative writing process.
Winner of the Pat Lowther Memorial Award in 2014 for her collection, "Meeting the Tormentors in Safeway," she has been nominated for a CBC Literary Award and the Pushcart Prize. Her poetry regularly appears in journals worldwide, and she has performed her poems at festivals worldwide, on CBC Radio One and National Public Radio, and in the 1998 documentary, Slam Nation. She holds an MA in Drama, an MFA in Creative Writing, and is currently completing her PhD in the Department of English and Cultural Studies at McMaster University.
