FireplaceLearn about lung health, then walk with us!
Get out, get active, and enjoy the benefits of walking! Respiratory Therapist and educator Tracy Bonifacio explores the importance of lung health and the hidden risks of radon exposure. Learn what radon is, where it comes from, and why it is the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada. Find out how to test and reduce radon levels in your home and take practical steps to protect your lung health. After the talk, spend the rest of the hour enjoying a healthy walk and lively conversation.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the walk. Meet us near the Fireplace at the New Appleby branch. We will then move to the outdoor space at the Robert Bateman Community Centre, facing the grassy field at the north entrance.
Walking is a wonderful form of physical activity, and we encourage all levels of walking ability to participate in this event—whether you complete the entire walk or join us for part of the journey! Walking devices, mobility aids, and walking companions are welcome. All participants must sign a waiver, which is provided at the start of the walk.
