Learn how nature benefits your mental health & walk with us!
Get out, get active, and embrace the benefits of walking! Psychotherapist and social worker Tara Salehi Varela helps you discover how spending time in nature can enhance mental and physical well-being. Learn how mindfulness and intentional daily activities in nature can boost mood, sharpen focus, reduce stress, improve sleep, and create a sense of belonging. Following a brief talk, you'll engage in a sensory activity to connect with nature through your five senses, then enjoy a refreshing walk to reflect and discuss mental health insights.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the walk. Meet us in the Frank Rose room in the library. We will then move to the outdoor space at the Central Park Rose Garden, just opposite the south entrance, facing New Street.
Walking is a wonderful form of physical activity and we encourage all levels of walking ability to participate in this event—whether you complete the entire walk or join us for part of the journey! Walking devices, mobility aids, and walking companions are welcome. All participants must sign a waiver, which is provided at the start of the walk.
