Learn how to set up your own small sewing enterprise in this 12-week hands-on course
Have you ever dreamed of turning your sewing skills into a business? This 12-week program will help you build your sewing skills and learn what it takes to start or grow your own business.
Designed for adults living in Halton Region who already have basic sewing skills, the program combines hands-on sewing with practical business training. Learn how to make alterations, cut patterns, and create items for home décor and storage. You'll also learn how to write a business plan, set prices, build a brand, market your products and services, and provide good customer service. You'll even have a chance to test your products and see if they're ready to sell.
Experienced local business owners will share advice and support along the way. You'll build confidence, develop a plan for your business, and learn practical ways to turn your sewing skills into income.
The program begins with an information session on September 8, followed by classes held twice a week from 10am to 1pm for 12 weeks. When you register for the information session, you are registering for the full program. Participants are expected to attend all sessions and three follow-up business workshops in January. Course materials are provided.
