SOLO Artistic Director Sabatino Vacca examines an opera classic
Sabatino Vacca, Artistic Director of Southern Ontario Lyric Opera (SOLO), examines the themes and music of Gaetano Donizetti’s opera Lucia di Lammermoor.
Based on Sir Walter Scott’s novel, The Bride of Lammermoor, the opera tells the tragic tale of Lucia Ashton, caught in a family feud in 17th-century Scotland. Sabatino Vacca explores the opera’s enduring popularity and discusses the heightened emotions of the story, the psychological depth of its characters, and the dramatic arias in its composition.
Presented in partnership with Southern Ontario Lyric Opera SOLO
