With Britta Badour, author of Wires That Sputter
Britta Badour’s debut collection of poetry, Wires that Sputter, is filled with propulsive, intimate stylings and an eye toward Black liberation, pop culture, sports, and familial fractures. In these wondrous poems is an attentiveness that harrows as well as heals. Electricity manifests in every line as themes of rupture and recovery, tribute and tribulation, and room to breathe all dapple the pages.
After her reading, Britta leads participants through a dynamic writing and spoken word exercise. Named by CBC Books as one of the three Black Canadian writers to watch in 2024, Britta is sure to inspire you to find your poetic voice!
