Prolific multidisciplinary Métis artist, Jani Lauzon reads excerpts from her play, “I Call myself Princess,” and talks about the historical figures depicted in the play. A Juno-nominated singer-songwriter, Ms Lauzon is an acclaimed stage and screen actor, filmmaker, stage director, and Gemini Award winning puppeteer.
She co-founded Turtle Gals Performance Ensemble, a Native women's collective that penned three plays including The Scrubbing Project, The Triple Truth, and The Only Good Indian. Her current company, Paper Canoe Projects, has produced A Side of Dreams, I Call Myself Princess, and Prophecy Fog.
